Dam repairs!

Yes, they have drained the lower lake. The Caddo River has two dams on it. One dam (the large one) forms the 13,400-acre Lake DeGray. This dam was the first ever built by the corps of engineers with the ability to pump water back across the dam into Lake DeGray from a 400 acre impound created by a second small regulatory dam. We simply call this reservoir, "the lower lake" and the small dam that makes it, "the lower dam." It is this lower dam that needed some repairs, so water has stopped being released from the large dam and the lower lake has dried up. It really looks weird; this is the first time I remember seeing it this way, although the rangers tell us that they do this about every 5 or so years.
