Troy's Flowers

It has been so HOT here! Troy has had to water his plants every night. He does a good job keeping up with them. I have really enjoyed the ones he has picked for me. Here is a picture of some of the ones he has cut lately. The pictures really doesn't do the flowers justice and my sink in the background doesn't help either, but the flowers are beautiful just the same.

Lichen Bug

Talk about your camouflage expert, this is a green lacewing larva that my mom found. I don't know how she spotted it in all the lichens on her trees; I assume it was moving. I have read reports of these little guys pinching people, but I can't confirm because she gave it to me in a jar (and it will remain in the jar). Also a few bee pics.

Brayden's Backyard Surprise

The strawberry plants are finished for the year (Brayden loved the strawberries), but look at what berries are just now getting ripe. I told Brayden before he left that when he got back the blackberries would be ripe and the plants are cooperating nicely. I already have a bowl full of juicy berries waiting for him and there are more on the way.

There will be even more surprises for Brayden in the backyard. Many of my plants are just starting to flower.
Canna lilies
Day lilies

Hen and Chicks (well they don't flower, but they are neat plants)

Hydrangea
Lantana
Morning Glory

The Gift that Keeps on Giving

Spectacular! Gorgeous! Can you believe these flowers were all cut from a single plant? It took a couple of years and a little TLC, but the hydrangea that Sean and Tabitha bought me on Father's Day 2008 is putting on a floral exhibition. It is like candy for the eyes.
